OnePlus 3T

Thought I would give a small update on Bluetooth audio.

I am running Sony MDR 100ABN overears and have gone head to head with my Galaxy S6 and my Dell Laptop running Bluetooth 4.0. The S6, unlike the 3T has APT-X. I have tested extensively on Deezer at the highest quality settings. The S6 and 3T are easily ahead of the Dell with Bluetooth 4.0. I cannot identify any discernable difference in quality between the S6 and 3T having put them through the ringer for a couple of hours side by side.

I am not running lossless so it is not a complete test by any means. For my usage, the fact that APT-X is not included is creating no obvious issues in audio quality.

In video usage I am yet to notice any lipsync problems having watched many hours of youtube and video.

Just my 2p, but hopefully will aleviate some concerns for a few people.

Thanks for sharing - I didn't realise the OP3/T didn't support APT-X.

I'm using the Jaybirds X2 and B&W P7 wireless with the OP3 and they sound fantastic. I'll go and compare them with my old Galaxy S3 (with APT-X) and see if they differ.

Given the difference to vanilla 4.0 I am calling it that Oneplus are using APT-X but not publicising it anywhere for licensing reasons. As far as I am aware there is no APT-X handshake notification in Android so it is hard to tell.
 
found the most annoying "feature" of the phone so far - because you can't just turn the volume down to vibrate, you have to use the hardware button, it means I can't have my phone on vibrate and still get notifications to my smartwatch as the button sets it to do not disturb PITA
 
I was about to say that I'd only received an email not a text, but I got the text whilst I was typing my reply :D

Delivery is due for the 23rd, unfortunately I'm in work in the morning. Suppose to be going for drinks in the afternoon but may have to it down now to wait for my phone :mad: 1st world problems.
 
As someone who is still on a (trusty but well worn) Nexus 4 - is this the perfect replacement? Kinda wish I had jumped on the OP3 scanning the first page of this thread...

Really need it before the end of the year

That's really useful to know, I've got a z3 compact and made sure that the bluetooth receiver I use in the car is aptx. If the quality from the OP3T is good enough, then that's really reassuring!

So that was Deezer but not Deezer Elite?

Isn't aptx only really beneficial when listening to lossless audio?
 
I've had to send my 3T back, really nice phone but the screen was horrible, far far too sensitive. Its possible that it was faulty though, might try another in the new year as for the money it seems hard to beat.
 
so my trusty Galaxy Note 3 is starting to have charging issues it looks like I'm going to be in the market for a new handset. I'm currently between this and the Nexus 6P...
