Onions Smell on Fingers

I'm going to have to get some steel soap I think.

I experimented with using bleach to get rid of the chilli burn on my fingers the other week and it worked amazingly well. Sadly it was not so easy to get the bleach smell off afterwards though... :p

If you use stainless steel knives, just rub your hands on that (carefully ;)). It works the same as the steel soaps. Just wash your hands as usual afterwards.

I wash my cleaver after chopping onions, without washing up gloves and never had this issue that my missus have - who always washes up in rubber gloves. Now I know why... awesome!

Piffle. Capsaicin is soluble in oils and alcohols. Decent detergents would also get it off. You'd do better to rub some olive oil over your fingers and then the best detergent you can find.

You just made your hands smell of bleach and burn at the same time :p

Yeah. It's not like I'm aware of it being oil soluble and have used that technique previously or anything

In this one test it seemed that bleach was more effective. More testing required to validate.

Sorry, yeah it's not like I know about getting pain in the ass things and lyophilsed peptides to dissolve at work at all or anything :p ;)

So the whole bleach reacting with it to turn it into a water-soluble salt thing is not true? Strange that it worked so much better than all the times I've used oil followed by strong soaps/water.

Having a cold and breathing out of my mouth when i'm sleeping because of it; all i've been able to taste for days is onion, no matter how much flossing, brushing, scraping or mouth-washing i've done, i've always woken up tasting onion. Is there an oral steel soap lol?
