It's the same old story - my 9-year-old Harman/Kardon 2.1 system is finally giving up. I've a cracked wire/dodgy connection at the back of the sub.
I've been tempted by the Z-5500s for ages now, but all this talk of blowing fuses, and the fact that if one thing breaks the rest is broken, is really beginning to put me off.
So I've been looking at an Onkyo system for the last few days. Problem is that there's so much choice.
I was looking at the S3305 package, but then I saw it wasn't THX certified. Does that make a huge difference? Also, what's the difference between the S3305 and the S5305?
The 608 also looks tempting, but very expensive. Especially when I need to buy a speaker set for it too - all on a student's budget!
The 607 seems to have gone out of production now, but is it possible to pick one up on clearance? Is the 607 THX certified too, because the 608 apparently is.
I'd like a 5.1 system, but I'm afraid the room I'm in is a bit small and I'd have wires everywhere.
Is there any similar solution for a 2.1 system with Onkyo sound quality?
It's mainly for use with my desktop - not really a home cinema setup.
Thanks in advance.
