Hello and thanks for your time in advance.

I just bought a TX-SR308 after reading a thread about hooking it up to a PC with SPDIF.(the mobo ASROCK 890 FX DELUXE 3 has one )
Im actully having some difficulty in setting this up, wondering if i can have a little help in the setup maybe a pro can send me tot he right site for a good guide.

or

HDMI connection on the game port for the ps3 from the ATI HIS 5700 for dtstream is another problem for me as i skimmed on the cash and bought one with out a pc connection.

Im really sorry if the second statement sounded so noobish but im so new whne it comes to av amps/receivers/tuners with audio video.

Also i neeed software advice on using it for blurays aswell as gaming.

Any input is appreciated.

im a thuggie LOL

Just got spdif working after hours of trying :).

I don't really understand this bit.

But why not use PC HDMI ---> Onkyo amp? Then you have PC video and sound over one cable unlike with the SPDIF.

With dtstream i ment bitstream HD sound.

Ah i need to upgrade my crad from a his ati hd 5700 to one that has the hdmi connector on the card and then find what hdmi i can use on the onkyo its the console im sure as it comes up as a second display in the devices and printer gui.

Im also still unsure on how to set this up after reading the manual by hdmi. With dtstream i ment bitstream.
I have a hdmi on the gfx card that i cant figure out what hdmi port to connect too ie bluray tv or console im pretty sure its the console but im not using this set up for a second monitor all i want is bitsteaming and then the above problem kicks in.

Advice on a second purchase for a HD 5 series card for crossfire would be nice too.

Is it possible to do this with one gfx card running a dvi cable to the dvi connnection on the display 1 and use the same display 1 with a HDMI cable from the same card to the tx-sr308 then the hdmi in the monitor display 1?

every 5-series ati card can output audio, even those without hdmi sockets. for cards like yours (what is it? there is no '5700'), you just need a dvi to hdmi adaptor and a hdmi lead and it should work fine.

Thanks for the help:)

thanks guys you really all helped me out i have it working all i need is the onkyo blu ray and a set of onkyo speakers or the tanyo one im just not sure

thanks a bunch : )

set up hdmi from the pc to the game hdmi then the dvi from the monitor to the tv/cd hdmi on the onkyo although i am havign a wee bit trouble with audio currently using the spdif still :( so any suggestions about that would be kooool:)
