Online access

So the other day I was looking at Lima storage, it lets you connect a hard drive to your router and then access it from anywhere. What I was wondering is if this would be possible/already exists somewhere for internal storage, e.g. a piece of hardware that sits inside my computer, using the computers internet connection, allowing me to get to the data stored on there from anywhere either with or preferably without the computer being turned on. any thoughts?

that is a separate device though isnt it? you put all your stuff on there and use it as a storage server and can get to it online and stuff? i was looking for something that can be put in an existing pc to make it accessible.
