It depends - unless you're using strong client-side encryption, either natively through your backup/syncing app or with a third-party utility, then you should probably work on the assumption that your stuff could end up freely accessible to persons unknown. Ask Jennifer Lawrence or Kate Upton. :)

Privacy issues aside though, I reckon pretty much any online backup system will be safer and more dependable than a portable hard drive chucked in a rucksack.

LOL it said it would take one of my passwords would take 98 million years... really? Its only 13 characters with 1 5 letter word converted to numbers interspersed with a 7 letter word.

And the second one posted says 163 trillion years... how is that better???

Without knowing the exact password it's hard to tell; the second site presumably thinks your password is secure against a dictionary/combination attack, and it's just working on the basis of how long it would take to brute-force it.

I've no idea why it would come up with 163 trillion years though; I've just generated a *completely* random 13-character password including non-alphanumeric characters, and my1login thinks it would "only" take 120 million years to crack.
 
Ok tried a password using the same formula, actually my original is 14 letters miss-counted :D

A8a6r5d3v3a5rK comes out at 47 million years vs 98 million

A8b6b5e3r3a5nT comes out at 1 billion years vs 98 million

A8b6e5l3m3o5sk comes out at 2 trillion years vs 98 million

I guess you have to pick a rarely known/used word. my1login appears to be more formulaic.

Just tried this random letter one on my1login, K3i4u5y2h4l3iV, and only got 5 thousand years???

To me this means the formula used to calculate is rather crap
 
Another recommendation for Crashplan from me. Free to backup to other PCs (including friends offsite) or <£9 per month for unlimited backups across 10 PCs!

I looked in to that... 100GB for £2/month is very good... but then I also spotted that it quotes

Photos bigger than 2048x2048 pixels use your storage.
Everything smaller than that is free.

Great I thought, I take all my photo's on my phone at 5mp and but they are free if i use 3.2mp, 2048x1536, not much of a difference. However... having batch processed 30GB's of photo's in photoshop yesterday and transferred them to google drive over night they are taking up space!!! What a waste of time!

The wording mislead me that shows on the Google Drive upgrade page but under Google+ Photo's, I tricked myself lol :D

I don't care at all about versions outo backup.

What I want is to upload about 60gb of memories and documents and it to be safe for ever.

So if I move laptop, computer ETc I can get it all back
