online banking apps

I have a rule. Most times if websites have apps. I stick to using the website. Far more reliable. Bugs develop all the time with apps, had far more issues with apps than on normal website sessions

I've been using the Barclays app for years, or since whenever they released their first version. It's improved drastically with every iteration and I use it daily.

When sending from your PayPal to your bank it should be very quick, when doing it the other way round it takes a few days though.

Been using the Lloyds banking app on android for a couple of years now and never encountered an problem. Only niggle is occasionally getting confirmation of transfers from their fraud protection but I can live with that.

Thankfully this is not the case with the Barclays apps. Very reliable and accurate.

RBOS - personal/business account. They cannot do banking right in reality, god forbid what happens when they do it virtually. I don't use it, don't plan to. Never a problem.

I like PayPal, that is fine.

The RBS apps at least do not check for root access and therefore still work on Android devices which have been rooted.

Those of you who mentioned RBS systems (we used to be part of RBS Insurance and split of as Direct Line Group - they were forced to sell their insurance arm) and can fairly say that whilst we may have had a few system issues it is pretty reliable.

For the NatWest application, you need to close it and reopen it for it to show updates. Same applies to the Online Banking.

I have the RBS, Natwest and Barclay apps on my devices.
All three work perfectly, everything I need to know is displayed and doing a quick payment to an existing payee while out and about is so useful.

Never had any issue with the Natwest app (which I've used for years) or the Santander app. Much easier than faffing around with the login screen on the full website. I can't believe people do that on mobiles!

I use Lloyds, HSBC, Halifax and Barclays. Both on Android and iOS, Lloyds and Barclays being the best apps as I can transfer money to a new contact without having to physically logging on to the website and setting it up.

Post Office doesnt have a banking app but I am cancelling this credit card soon as Im back from my holiday in September.

Mobile phones have really poor security, there is no way i would use any banking app

That's not the case if HSBC and Barclays are allowing mobile phones to replace the logging tokens for online banking. I haven't heard of a person account being hacked due to mobile phone security.

Rubbish! Generally with security it isn't the hardware that is the risk but the user. However, you are welcome to your own opinion and not use any banking applications on your phone... the rest of the world will though because a) they are clueless or b) they actually know how it all works (which you obviously don't).

That would be enough of a clincher for me NOT to use the RBS app.

From what I've read up on, the Barclays App seems to be widely accepted as the best one out there.

My sister uses the Barclays app and I have to admit that it is pretty good. However when it comes to rooted devices, I would like to hope that people actually know what they are doing and aren't going to install random applications left right and centre. I for one don't and look at permissions and what others have said online.
