Online Friends

I went to the Newcastle Meet last year and met loads of people that I'd only spoken to on here and on MSN. Before the that I met Von after only talking on MSN as he came out for my birthday :D And I think I once bumped into BrenOS, Chopper Dave and Clerkin while out shopping in town :p

Was meant to be going away next week with some friends I met online but unfortunately I found out I couldn't get back from London in time for work! Ah well... next time! :(

ive met a few.. and i was ment to meet people, but things got a bit sticky
ide like to meet people from here though :)
(wise idea or not???) :p

Well I went to Swansea last year and met LOADS of lovely people, am now signed up for three meets this year (so far) one of which i've managed to stick my oar in and half organise...

Meeting people from the interweb is fun :D

I think I can only call 2 people i've met on the net as friend.

1 - lives in Epsom, a guy who's a computer/networking genius (so many times he's helped me out with my PC and network, troubleshooting over MSN !). Never met him in real life but I have his address and phone number, I am sure i'll meet him one day.

2 - A girl who lives in Vegas (actually know The Killers before they were famous, went to University with their drummer), known her for about 4 years now and met her last year at Christmas in London for a weekend.

No, I would never meet anyone in real life that I've conversed with in any way whatsoever on the internet or any other form of non verbal conversation. That would just be too strange and how would I know if they're real or not or just a figtree of my imagination.

K.
the above may be a lie

I've met approx 50 or so people from these forums through various meets, some several times, and some I would now call good friends whom I trust a lot. The OcUK meets are a fantastic experience and I always look forward to them more for knowing my friends will be there :)

I've met quite a few people from '*** intarweb'. Aside from brits I've also met up with people from Sweden, Holland and Belgium.

The first person I met who I first encountered online was a postgrad at my uni back in 1998. Thinking back, I think the last one would have been whoever turned up last to the OcUK meet in Kent last year.

I must admit though, due to the stigma I have tended to bend the truth a little when explaining to friends where I'm going :)

I was down the pub with a guy from these forums tonight.

We've become pretty good friends, and I've only known him 8 months. Amazing the kind of people you can meet on the Internet.

Who would that be  :o

yep, went to Hailsham and Swindon to meet a big group of people i met online.. all girls too :D

t'was a long train trip from Tenby to Swansea, then to London, then to Hailsham though
then four days later after sleeping in a tent in one of the girls back garden.... off to Swindon... two nights there and back on the train home...

it was a great trip, although ironically i've lost contact with them since meeting them, everyone has been busy with work/exams etc... shame really, they were all a real great laugh... some crazy people in Hailsham though :p

and i'll always remember trying to find that pub from my friend sam's house in swindon (she lived/lives in the middle of nowhere)... took us 15 minutes or so to find the pub from her house.... and about 4-6 hours to come home... which resulted in sleeping in a hedge, sleeping/peeing in a phonebox... i woke up the next morning and couldn't find my mate that travelled up with me from tenby...

after about 30 minutes or so, we worked out he got up at 7ish (i think we got in at 4 or 5) for a glass of milk, went to the loo.... we never saw him again... until i went in and found him sitting on the bog holding onto his glass of milk asleep :D
