Online game recommendation..

Totally sick of WoW.Looking for a replacement game.Doesn't have to be MMO but I do have a couple of requirements.Firstly I'm not the youngest shooter on the block and my reactions suck so fast paced FPS' are out.Tried the demo of Eve,didn't like it.Tried LOTRO,didn't like it.Tried EQ2,not totally awful but machine can't handle it.Tried SWG,awful..just awful.

RTS games would be an option and I like the single player COH,but I need a game I can pick up and play for 30 mins then put down again.I like racing games and have tried LFS but found it..well...a little boring (feel almost blasphemous saying that :eek: )

Any other ideas or am I being too picky ? Is there a gaming nirvana out there for me ? Anything that has a demo would be great so I can try before I buy :D

Why is companys still charging monthly fee's when guildwars proved it could be done freely? I was hoping a wider selection of mmorpg games this year based on guildwars philosophy. (sp)

You can't have played old school SWG, you'd never say that otherwise.

The online Conan game coming out looks good.

And Guildwars is a joke of an MMO. Call it an online fantasy game, not an MMORPG. Would you call Diablo an MMORPG?

No it was fairly recently..maybe I'd spoiled it for myself by expecting so much (die-hard starwars fan :D)

I'm eagerly waiting to try Warhammer online..other than that I can't see much out there that appeals to me.I loved playing DF Land Warrior as it was slower paced than the Q3,UT variants.

WoW utterly dragged me in as soon as I logged into the beta test.Before that it was Total Annihilation.A few games in between have been fun.I don't even think it's the game itself that bothers me about WoW (apart from the god-awful,tacked-on battlegrounds PvP system)..but the constant stream of idiots I seem to group/guild with.

Ahh well..I'll wait I suppose :)
 
I know the feeling... i'm sick of wow... swg is awful. the last FPS games i played online was Tactical-Ops UT mod so i'm a little out of it for whats good now... couldnt realy get into UT2004.

I would probably give Guild Wars a go, maybe Oblivion or something if its an RPG your after. as for RTS i have started playing some of the older ones... Warcraft 3 and The frozen Throne expansion... they are not bad and have quite a bit of story to them.

trust me, SWG these days isnt a scratch on the old school SWG, masses of naff patches and "upgrades" is the result of what you saw.

I'll defend this game till' I die! (pre-cu! :p )
