Hi,

I just started playing WoW again but on my new connection it "skips" every few seconds. I first thought it was my hard drive but after a full defrag and testing another online game, which was fine, I'm out of answers. When I stay still in the game and theres no one around me it doesn't happen, as soon as I start moving I get the little pauses about once every 5 secs.

The new connection I'm on is wireless until it hits my house. Its beamed out from a pole up the hill and is received by an aerial on the side of my house, this feeds into a box containing a router and from there the connection is fed to my PC via ethernet.

Web browsing is fine, as is downloading. I am behind a firewall which I don't have control over. I've tried fiddling with the MTU and RWIN settings but to no avail.

If anyone could help me out that would be great.

Void, I play WoW too and have experienced the same problem as you are getting since Monday. Next to your inventory (in the game screen) is a small bar that is either green, yellow or red. That is your latency bar. If it's below 300 then it's green. Mine has been yellow or red on the two days that I have played the game.

I'm on Virgin Media, formerly NTL.

i would check your packet loss. It may be that your losing packets and it gets to a point where you lose enough so the game has to stop, and catch up (the fast forwarding action)

I think a good tool to test packet loss is WIN MTR (i think) google it and then type an IP in and hit ping.

Also can you test your download speeds and see if they are as good as it always has been.
