Online guitar shops...

I've found http://www.projectmusic.net/ to be very good, along with thomann and dv247 as mentioned above.

I don't like guitarampkeyboard though, mainly since they don't tell you if something is in stock or not. Kind of annoying to order a guitar, have the money removed from your bank account and then get an email two days later to say they won't actually have it in stock for another 2 months.

last one i used was andertons music (they have a store as well as website - andertons.co.uk).

bought my last guitar there listed nearly £100 cheaper than what most places were doing at the time.

gear4music.com......bought a 100watt bass amp from there and arrived early in the morning on the day they said it would.....great serrvice and cheap and very chuffed with the product.

They practically sell everything so i am sure thats a good place to get guitars too.

i can recommend this company too, bought some strings from them the other week and again they arrived the day they said they would and didn't have an ounce of trouble with them, brilliant service!

Even though it's more expensive I find its much better to go to an actual guitar shop, that way you can try out more guitars and get some helpful advice.

I've never bought a guitar online because they all feel so different and would hate to buy a guitar to find I hate the feel of it.

^^Agreed. I wouldn't but a guitar without playing it first.

It doesn't have to be any more expensive in a shop though. Just ask them what the best price they can do is, or say you've seen it on the net for £X.

You can normally get a strap or set of strings thrown in too.

:)

I agree with buying from a shop.

You get to play many different guitars chat to people hang out and get free stuff.

Depends on what price bracket you are buying I suppose.

I'm also for going to the store. If they cant match the price they can usually say, well give you this or that. My mates guitar (PRS) was £300 more in the shop, the similar guitar online was £2700. They did a deal, he got the guitar for £2850, plus a free yearly set-up for a few years and a certain amount of string (10 a year??).

www.guitarvillage.co.uk is great, pretty good prices, they tend to match and their real life store is absolutely uber.

As far as I know, having bought from there a few times in store every guitar they have on the website is in their store. Looking at the PRS page alone at the moment, that must be a fire hazzard insurance nightmare.
