online hanging

my mates computer hangs everytime he does online gaming. it never does it when its not connected. we changed nearly everything apart from the mobo and cpu. he has a talk talk connection, even tried it on my ntl and its the excat same. could anyone know what is possibly wrong

a) Possible Spyware/Malware (try Adaware, Spybot S&D for starters if you haven't already?)

b) Network card drivers? Tried updating those? Assuming it's an ethernet connection?

'online hanging' lol i expected to see a video of.... ill quit while im ahead

may be a network card issue, had a similar problem - card didnt have correct drivers and perfromed terrible, slow transfer speeds etc

but on adsl its a usb modem... he just formatted again, told him to update the network drivers anyway
