Online Review Sites

With the number of VPNs and throwaway emails out there it would not be hard to create multiple accounts you just need to remember which belongs to what. Don't see the point though unless you have been permabanned

This forum is one of the very few good ones.
Can't blame the permabanned for trying to get back in.

Bet it's the pron sub forum they really want!

and they seem hell bent on actually trying to destroy peoples businesses instead of giving a fair and constructive representation.

Unfortunately I have to deal with this from time to time on the worst review site out there, trustpilot.

We have a handful of reviews from customers which are basically complete lies or grossly misrepresent the truth, and trustpilot refuses to remove them.

Examples:
A developer at a competing company claims our software is slow and resource intensive, despite it widely being known as one of the might lightweight and high performing options out there.
A user had his software license canceled after we found him sharing/pirating it on 3rd party warez sites, so he gets to write a scathing review for us doing that.
A user on our community forums was banned for being aggressive to other users, and making threats towards the staff, and he gets to leave a review up saying how unfair it is.
We have a review for a completely different company left on our TP page.

Fortunately we have hundreds of positive reviews which drown out these negative ones, however I have considered if we may be able to take trustpilot to court, as every time we get a bad review, most often incorrectly left for us or similar, it takes weeks for it to get removed and hours of time to fight through their automated systems.

I would rather delete the whole company from TP than have to deal with them as a company, however due to their market possition, you are forced to deal with them otherwise you just end up swamped with bad reviews against your company.

Look at Ebay you get to a certain size and can then remove reviews to keep 100% rating even if your not being honest and remove all neutral or bad feedback.

I much prefer to see companies / sellers without 100% feedback but answering the review as to how they resolved the issue.
Sellers can't even leave negative or neutral feedback for buyers on eBay.

They probably should put a 50 word minimum on reviews so at least you can see what the issue is and how dumb the reviewer is.

As noted elsewhere places run incentives for positive reviews or outright buy reviews so how valuable are they really. I do pay attention to negative reviews especially if they all mention the same thing.

I already remember the classic this time last year where some daft git gave a movie a 1-star review on Amazon because it hadn’t been released yet (Amazon of course shouldn’t be allowing reviews on products that haven’t been released).

this is what i usually do. i don't bother with 5 or 4 star reviews - i don't need to know how great something is i might buy, i'm more interested in the negative reviews to see if there's a 'theme' or similar issues being reported.

omg 44,626 posts down the drain! what a waste of life!

oh he won the lotto must have wanted a free permaban.

I'm not trying to hide anything on here pal but it looks like there's a few members itching for a bit of drama to kick off.

Yes I have very briefly posted on this site once before and that was only a few months ago and I complained about a feature of the forum software that was irritating me a bit. I got a few sharp/snotty comments from 2 members of the staff team (and I'm fairly sure you were one of them) so I had a little hissy fit, words were exchanged back and forth, and I said I was leaving and stopped posting in a huff. I think you and I may also have had a little spat in a conversation about voting for a new OC staff member but that was a bit silly on both sides.

Long story short....I've calmed down now and realised the software wasn't actually that annoying and I probably could've just taken a bit more time to adjust to how this site is set up but when I tried to log into my original account recently I discovered it had been shut down/permabanned.

I sort of missed being a member here as there's some good people worth talking to on these forums so I signed up for another account with a new name. I'm sure you know who I am/was from the info you can see in the admin panel but I'm certainly not trying to evade detection by opening a new account. That being said....I don't think there needs to be a "big reveal" about my old username coz in this account and the old one I hadn't done or said anything wrong on this forum. I had an issue with the software that spiralled out of control, and again, got a bit silly from both sides tbh.

If I actually wanted to hide from you I could easily set up another account(s) and connect via my VPN on my other laptop using several new/unlinked IP addys and, trust me, you would never know it was me (unless perhaps by a similar style of posting/wording).

So what's your poison pal? Live and let live? Or do I need to make myself invisible in a new account(s) and go into stealth mode just to be a member on this forum lol

I just noticed a link to this forum while browsing some tech on the sales site so I thought I'd sign up and see what's going on in here :)

I just noticed a link to this forum while browsing some tech, but also happen to have noticed the forum when I was briefly a member on it.

If I see a bad review, I check the user and if they have submitted just negative reviews, then I won't trust them. They are either particularly picky or just only review bad experiences etc.

These people are idiots imo
