Only 10 years?

Looks like dangerous driving causes far more deaths..

So it Makes you wonder why you only get a 6 to 12 month ban for dangerous driving
But you get a 3 year ban for drink & driving..

Dangerous driving can be a short but very serious lapse in judgement (enough to be considered dangerous rather than just careless).

Drink Driving requires you to actively break the law by drinking, then driving, it can also often be a sign of an ongoing problem hence from memory the longer bans if you're massively over the limit.
I think the starting point is a 12 month ban for being over the limit going to 2 years if you're something like 2-3 times over the limit, and it's automatically 3 years if you've been caught and convicted of it in the previous decade.

Yes, because accidents like this are only going to go up as people are using their phones more and more.

Being caught using a phone needs to be given incredibly harsh punishments = car crushed + licensed revoked levels of punishment.

Causing an accident like this may as well be on the same level as murder with intent. The moment you pick that phone up and look at the screen you made a conscious decision to turn your vehicle into a weapon that you are not in control of.
