What is it with a lot of new films lately where it says this? It will be released on dvd, so why do they say it? Does it mean 'it will only be shown as a new release in cinemas'? If so, then where else would one watch such a new film? DVD screener maybe??

I've noticed this too, bit odd considering that pretty much everything becomes available on certain sites within days of coming out if not before.

And it's not always dodgy poor quality like they'd lead you to believe. Many times there are blu ray quality rips available within a few days of movies coming out at the cinema.

Disclaimer: Piracy is wrong!

It really means "We know this can probably be aquired through "other" means but it's only right you pay us for it so come see it here!" and I agree however I wish they'd say this rather than the rather incorrect "only in cinemas"

I think it is just used to reinforce that the trailer you have just seen is for a film that is in the cinema. Given that these days, home video releases are also advertised with the trailers, it helps it set it apart from a video release for anyone who might not know.

You also have to remember that not everybody is paying attention during ad breaks, so having it reinforced through a voice over if you are not looking at the TV or go out the room is another reason.

It simply means what it says, so people don't go down their local Blockbuster trying to rent it or buy it.......

I can't fathom why people even have to ask such a question.
