Only Picking up 1 Core

Ive just upgraded my A64 3500 (venice) to a A64 X2 4200 but when i ran 3dmark 06 my score is nearly the same maybe a little worse, so i got CPU-Z and ran that and it only seems to pick up 1 core, shouldnt it be picking up 2? here is a screenshot:

Any help much appreciated as i feel like ive just wasted my cash.

hmm nope, didnt think u had to install drivers for cpu's :0 what ones do i need seems to be a few? and also i only see 1 cpu usage meter.

hmm well i installed the optimizer driver , restarted and it still only picks up 1 core ive just went into device manager aswell clicked computer found the acpi thing clicked update driver and it said it couldnt find a newer one...?

Yeah its new i bought it from ocuk today, when i click on device manager and cpu it picks up two AMD Athlon X2 dual core processors 4200's

hmm have you enabled at bios your acpi settings? S1 state?

Nope no good with bios things, where will it be under?

no idea , check your mobo manual

hmm well i had a look its set on S1 (POS) and then ive got a choice of S3(STR) and AUTO.

Do u think a reinstall of mobo drivers might help?

definatly a bios update, ive downloaded the manual and this is what it states

hmm well i searched and didnt fint any bios update for me just a few mobo drivers one was a AMD Away Driver? i take it thats no good is it? for this bios update it just said

"Your current version is 1.60, The latest online version is 1.60, Your current version was updated and optimized

try unisntalling the processor in device manager and optimizer in control panel and restart, then u will have new hard ware found, let windows conect to the net to find driver, then install optimizer and restart. See if that does anything

Uninstall the processor or the ACPI thing under computer? this wont damage anything will it?

EDIT: im going to leave it until the mornign now, getting on a bit, i might format again tomorrow see if that helps r now.

Update on this i formated this morning and guess what.............seemed to work i pushed ctrl,alt,del and i seen 2 cpu usage things, good sign i thought and then i checked on cpu-z and it now says 2 cores, so i ran 3dmark 06 and get about 5600ish compared to my old score of 4718 so im happy now cheers for all the advice anyway lads.
