OK I got my eye on a new hard drive which is a Western Digital Caviar 500GB SATA II 32MB Cache (Black) for my new build. Specs as follows:

Product Description: WD Caviar Black WD5001AALS - hard drive - 500 GB - SATA-300
Type: Hard drive - internal
Form Factor: 3.5" x 1/3H
Dimensions (WxDxH): 10.2 cm x 14.7 cm x 2.5 cm
Weight: 0.63 kg
Capacity: 500 GB
Interface Type: Serial ATA-300
Data Transfer Rate: 300 MBps
Spindle Speed: 7200 rpm
Buffer Size: 32 MB

Now what I would like to know is that if I only use 1 of these drives would I benefit by putting RAID Drivers on it at all, and would I benefit from the 32MB cache at all, or should I just run it as an IDE. My mobo is an ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo and I will be using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

RAID is only for multiple drives so would make no difference.
I have my drives running under IDE mode as apposed to ACHI, as I don't need the main extras that ACHI offer such as NQC or hot swapping
