What do you mean? I have seen nothing but good reviews for it... Or do you just mean the performance you would gain from a 6600 isn't worth it?

Yes, they are. Here is a comparison.

Hence if you were planning to upgrade to either an i7 920 or a Sandy Bridge Quad core - definitely go for the Sandy Bridge.

However, if you already have an i7 920 - then I would not recommend switching. The performance increase is not worth the money/hassle of a full upgrade IMHO, and an i7 920 should be plenty fast enough for most tasks.

Ok now how are they clock to clock. The i7 is at stock clocks in these comparisons.

Well, they have to compensate for the VAT discount offer (which finishes today, I believe!) somehow! :D

Think I will hang on now though until after the initial demand has been satisfied, and prices start to fall a bit, due to increased competition.

No reason why that shouldn't happen again, I don't think.

Anyone have an idea on the sound volume of the Ultima Tyrannosaur with a pair of 580's?

Agonising over if to put in an order at the last minute as only saw the system today but worried about the sound level. :(

GTX 580's are very quiet, the system is not silent but its not loud either, infact not even close, I'd say it was quiet, doing just generic windows task you will hardly notice it over ambient noise, under gaming you will be able to hear it but again it won't be that loud, gone are the days that PC's sound like hoovers or hairdryers.

Ok ever a sucker... placed my order. Better book wednesday off. :D

Give sales a call before you go booking a day off as we build the systems to demand and put them through testing before shipping out, so delivery might be more like Thursday or Friday, like I say call sales and arrange a day to take delivery. :)

Fingers crossed! XD

Sage words Gibbo, now if only I'd seen them before I booked it off but as I work flexi the late arrival at work just cost me 3 hours I just made up by staying late. My boss seemed in shock as to why I was in so late as I normally start at 7am.

Only irritation was the callback "in 5 minutes" from Phil this afternoon to give me an idea when it would be ready that never materialised.... ;)

So used to OC achieving miracles with my past orders (that didn't include OS's admittedly) that I believed the next day delivery on the email, was properly impressed and never thought to check in person. I fail!
