Ooops Heres a lesson for Y'all!

Yeah the only mods i can get away with are the intercooler and a power chip, and probabaly a Induction kit, anything else will get in trouble as its a company car.

But tbh, any quicker and I will find myself getting into more trouble.

lifes too short, just do it. My car is getting cosmetically pampered in the next few months. Plus maybe upgrade to a dastek unichip.

Mine is running 256 as std according to the rollers a few weeks back, i dont think my car is particularly quick tbh, its too heavy, but in gear acelleration is fantastic, quicker than a R32 in gear apparently.

Really? I'm suprised at that. Is this the new or old R32? Got a link?

both cars are ~250 bhp as std, the r32 will have some transmission loss due to the 4wd, but its debatable whether the big volvo lump will take the edge off the ST.

In a straight line I'd expect the ST to have the edge, everywhere else the power band of the v6 and the 4wd should be superior.

I'm keeping a close eye on these types of cars atm, as I intend to change cars next year, so far its narrowed down to the ST3/R32/S3, I was considering a new type R, but I do too many motorway miles these days :(, yes I know none of my short list is particularly frugal on the motion lotion, but I aint getting any younger so wth :)

I think I may have seen this one, before. Saw a ST220 pull over some old car at some traiffic lights and make a massive que as he blocked a lane off for sometime.

The ST3 would be cheaper on fuel but I would go for the R32 given the choice of the three.

Not many people liking the new CTR. I will reserve judgement until I've driven one.

S3 and R32 are a class above the focus tbh.Give me a R32 anyday, mind you when you are looking at these premium hatches, you cant discount the 130i either (despite its fugly looks).

yes a class above and the price reflects this, before buying my current mk5 golf I thought you were buying into quality when selecting VAG, my experience of this one and many like it on the MK5 forums suggests otherwise.

hence looking at cheaper but nonetheless "fun" alternatives

p.s. don't underestimate "fugly" when choosing a car, BMW 1 series was never a contender with those looks

West yorkshire's favourite unmarked cars are Volvo S40s and S60s

seen quite a few

Leicestershire Police's fave's is the Octavia VRS but they do have a mondeo ST220.

nottinghamshire are a bit more varied though, running an Accord Type R (red)and a bmw 535 (dark green)

and they all without exception have stupidly large aerials far too big to anything other than for police radio

its not rocket science spotting them :p

Absolutely nothing on this ST to tell it apart from a normal car, nor aerials, nor any lights on the parcelshel or anything like that, even on the dash it looked very std.

they obv liked it so much they had one in each colour :D

Keep within the limits and it matters not what there in, they won't get you.

Times & places to have plays, this was'nt one of them.

Lucky chap. ;)

I seem to remember it being posted quite recently that Police favour ST220's as their undercover cars?

Doing any sort of 'non-sensible' speed past a Mondeo, Vectra or for that fact, Subaru/Evo/BMW/Audi/Skoda..............

Ok, make it easier - don't do stupid speeds :)

The amount of police out on new years was ridiculous, coming from Fishponds rd to Yate I must have seen about 15+ people pulled over, which is like, 8 miles.

I stuck near the speed limits, I don't drink but getting pulled over just isn't worth the hassle, as interesting as it can be sometimes.

Tell me about it, had 5 mates with VWs, only got 2 now and the other 3 are still alive :p Passat, Toureg and Golf owners.. numerous problems with the Toureg and Passat such as windows falling in, alarms going off, internal bits falling off and various engine issues, they love that check engine light.

Heres a post i made elsewhere a few months ago about my mates Mk5 Golf

Matey of mine has a MK5 golf, i used to think VW were decent cars.. no more! Got the car brand new, hardly drove it and it only has 34,000 on the clock. So far: First car: Front passenger door dosen't fit properly, dealer gave him a replacement car (LOL), this car has had a blown clutch at 8000 miles! dealer sorted thankfully, replacement trottle body, car then used to surge to high rpms even at idle.. dealer did something and it worked for a few months then had to do it again... alarms went off by themselves, battery died and replacement died within a week, they claimed the wire harness and ECU had issues and replaced both..windows stopped working, dealer fixed.. three times and the car consumed more oil than was legal!. Now for the kicker, at 34,000 the timing belt broke.. heh. I'm staying away from VW as i had a look around the web and things really don't seem nice from a quality and service point of view.

I've seen so many unmarked cars where i live i've lost count, even a very old Fiesta once lol

Dunno if this is true but a mate of mine who lives near a vehicle depot of some sort for the police said they even have the odd milk truck there :)
