Having searched, I see no hits for OPatch. Do forum members not see this as a viable option for W10 after October.
I have an older PC and Laptop and would prefer the option of security updates paying eith MS or OPatch. I run Windows Live Mail too and W11 might cease to accept it as my mail client. Therefor staying with W10 and safe is my preferred option. Is OPatch familiar to you guys and what do you think about it?

Never heard of them before. For the 25 Euros/year they want I would upgrade to W11 and switch mail app.

Or continue using W10 without security updates and be careful which sites you visit and apps you install.

No

There are ways to BYPASS ESU eligibility and continue to receive the extended updates on Windows 10.

Move to something supported and not MS based. Thunderbird has been around since 2003 (far longer than Windows Live Mail) and shows no sign of going anywhere

I think it can potentially cause as many problems as it solves. It doesn't patch actual files, it does in memory patching (not a bad thing in itself), and could easily be misused by a malicious 3rd party.

Just slap a user friendly Linux distro on and run thunderbird. That'll be the safest and most supported solution OP.

I've heard of 0patch but not used it myself.

Also move away from Windows Live Mail. That thing was horrible in the day. Either Thunderbird or EmClient.

There's absolutely no reason to use Windows Live Mail these days, as everyone else has mentioned it's not been updated in years so security wise it's unsafe. I did use the default mail app in W10 which I found ok for basic use, but the new "Outlook" app is just a web wrapper and sluggish. Currently using Thunderbird.

You want security updates but run Windows Live Mail that hasn't received security updates for years?
I wasn't aware the mail clients received security updates and WLM has filled my needs

Can you tell me how, please

It's still one of the best mail clients around and a lot of people who used it have trouble letting it go as when MS discontinued it there was nothing as good available (and there still isn't much).

At the end of the day it's a mail client not an OS or web browser so it's hardly a notable security risk for personal usage.

You need to change email client. Stop holding onto old outdated software and move on. Thunderbird, as suggested by others, is a good move for the long term.
