I'm looking to replace my SLI GTX480's with a couple of GTX 770's and seeing a lot of offers on everything but the 770. Is there likely to be any offers on the 770 soon or will I just have to not tell the wife how much I'm spending :rolleyes:

Also - to anyone really - is there a definitive list of comparative performances that cover cards as old as the 480 that also include the 770. From what I can see the 770 performs a little better that 2x480s so 2 should be a significant improvement.

These cards are mostly overclocked but they give you an idea of the performance differences between them.

Ocuk generally don't give clear indication on what's going on offer.

You could try getting cs to give you a hint if it's worth waiting it out though.

Personally I'd advise you to snap up a couple of those 680 power editions while the goings good, remember 770's are essentially 680 rebagdes and those PE's are lightnings under a different product name, which means an easy flash to a certain lightning bios and you get over voltage as well as mean stock boost clocks which are likely to trash the majority of 770's ;)

I tend to use Tomshardware's monthly-ish round up of GPUs to work out where a particular GPU ranks:

Broadly, if two cards are in the same band you'll need an FPS counter to notice the difference in real life.

And then Anandtech Bench to see more detailed results between 2 particular cards:

(sometimes to compare really new with really old you have to use an intermediate - so see how a 770 compares to a 560 in the 2013 table, then how a 560 compares to a 480 in the 2012 table)
 
Yeah the big sales are clearing out old stock. 770 is still 'current' gen (even though it is the same chip as the 680). Best bet = get a 680!
 
I was about to buy two 680's earlier in the week but the deal was one per customer, that started me thinking. I'm now looking at a second SSD as the first is pretty full, but I'd need to raid them..... and that's a whole other thread.

So am I looking at Gibbo doing another really cheap 680 deal but with 2 per customer :-)

Hi there

You can buy two 680's now, pretty good price on this week only offer. If you wait a week or so I might be able to sort another 680 deal, but the MSI is exceptional.
 
Cheers Gibbo, I'm just checking to see if I can fit two OcUK GeForce GTX 680 H20 OC but it's going to depend on length of pipe as I'll have to fit the radiator in the top of my Level 10 chassis. Pipes to rad would need to be 30cm for the lower of two cards.

Car I've owned or own. :)
