Openfiler Targer and MS free iSCSI initiator connection issues.

Getting between 80 & 90MB/s transferring large files from a Hitachi Green drive to the array.RB

I get around 110MB/s on my local Seagate drive according to CrystalDiskMark. So your transfer rate from an Hitachi Green Drive to your SAN seems reasonable and I would be pretty happy with the results.

The theoretical max should be around 500MB/s for 4Gbit (4*1Gbit) iSCSI minus some protocol overhead. Have you tried pushing it to seem if you can get anywhere near this?

The problem is that it would need to be from something like a SSD on the SBS 2011 server pushing to the iSCSI mounted drive. I do have a SSD in the server but I am not sure it is available as I have not got round to checking yet :D. If it is then I shall give it a go. If not then I have to sort out why not and then give it a go :).

Scratch that. I knew there was a reason I couldn't. The Server is connected to the SAN via a single GbE connection. I will have to get a quad port in that server to test a 4GbE connection. It is tempting but I think I will wait a bit till the dust settles a little more on all these changes before going that way ;).

I'm about 6weeks behind you in terms of my rebuild. I'm currently still using my rig to develop some SQL (Clustered) Powershell scripts for disaster recovery. So I can't afford to change anything just yet, as they say if it ain't broke don't try to fix it (well not just yet):)
So it will be while before I can try anything out, but as soon as I can I will post my findings/solution here.
