Opening ports on a router

I have several ports open for some applications to function (e.g. Unreal Tournament). However, my router doesnt tie the port rules to specific applications, only to IP (of the PC behind the router) and protocol....is this a security hole? I dont notice any unusual data activity, however Peerguardian reports a lot of connections being made (in particular to the 2 ports I opened for P2P).

That's by design. The P2P software works by allowing people to connect to your PC. Even if your not running the P2P software the other users and most likely a server that controls it all will need to try and connect to you to check your status.

Fair enough, but that doesnt explain the other connections I see (with no specific port).

Have a look at this site to make sure that you have covered all the required step's for port forwarding with your router.
