Is anyone else having issues with openvpn and virgin media?.

Speedtest results without a VPN and im getting 159mb
with a VPN max is 100mb

This is also true with usenet downloads..

Without VPN 17mb/s
with VPN 11mb/s

Ive tried different VPN's , PIA and airvpn and get the same result no matter which server or port i connect to.

Just had a quick scan though VM's throttling policy and I can't see anything that would suggest they do shape traffic or rate limit.

Could you be topping out on CPU encrypting OpenVPN traffic? I assume it's only single threaded? Still, I'd expect a single core on a 3570 to be able to keep up with your VM.

It is a constant though, be interested to see what your CPU load is like when maxing out the VPN.

My i5 is fine , its only at 27% usage.
I know you wont get the same speeds with a vpn then without but the speeds im experiencing are taking a huge hit.

Its strange how different vpn's are giving the same results.
Virgin state they dont traffic manage VPN's but something is not right.

I started a thread on VM's forum about exactly this. I see the same issues of throttling across multiple providers. I can only hit 11MB/sec on VPN tops, but off-VPN instantly gives 19MB/sec. Still no staff reply, and please ignore the person who fails to comprehend me so drags out the herp derp for two pages.

I also have to further 'hide' (obfuscate) the VPN connection inside another SSL tunnel using stunnel, else I'm throttled even harder to 5MB/sec.

Also ensure you're in modem mode on the superhub, as they are crippled for OpenVPN on the router side.
