Hey there everyone,
I am just wondering - I have 2 HDD's one is SATA and the other is IDE.
The IDE one has Windows XP on and the SATA one has Windows 7, I need to get some files off of the ide hdd but the computer its in is dead so can i plug it into a different computer and get the files off or will the OS's conflict and cause problems?

Sorry if I haven't explained it well, but thanks for any help in advance.:D

How would I boot onto windows 7 and then copy the files over, also will i get the viruses that are on the ide hdd if there are any?

find a different PC with a ide connector, plug in your drive as a slave, run an antivirus & antimalaware to clean it from any unwanted bug, save your content on a portable media (dvd, external HDD) and copy back to your windows 7 system...

in bios, just make sure your sata hard drive (win 7) is the first to boot.
then after it starts up, just go to computer, open the drive and copy the files.
i would do a virus scan on these files as asap.

also i would presume that, as you are not loading xp with the infected system files, you should be safe, (but i may be wrong)
