Hi all,

Thought I'd share some of the photos I've managed to take while out here in Italy on Op Ellamy. I wouldn't claim to be anywhere near as good as Gord and some of the other aviation photographers around these parts, but hopefully my photos are somewhat interesting. Certainly not something you get to see at your average air show.

As ever pointers for the future gladly received.

That first shot is very nice :) Something about it gives the Typhoon a certain purposefull look!

Would love to see more if you have any. Always good to see the views from the other side of the fence!

Agree, though 2-6 look slightly underexposed and needing a bit more contrast; I think doing levels in PP should bring this out.

All in all some good shots; just slightly jealous :p

Nice shots, really like the first one, quite dramatic, like the afterburner ones too :)

I had to check some of my Typhoon shots as I was sure I caught ZJ928 in Wales and indeed I did although it looks like its moved squadrons, do they normally do that?

I'll remove the image if you like, just prefered it over a link.

You're getting some great chances to shoot some unique stuff out there James, a small plus to the hard work you're doing.

I like number 1, works for me.

A suggestion if I may, try to get some height. A set of air stairs of similar would do. Should give a nice shot.

Yes, they change the aircraft around and sometimes loan them to other squadrons.

Glad the first one is so popular, my favourite as well. Night shots are hard work as I couldn't bring the tripod out here with me so everything is hand held, or at best camera resting on something. Only having the 18-105 kit lens doesn't help either, if I had a 3 or 400mm I could get some fantastic shots, just don't have the length sadly. Lack of time doesn't help either to be honest. Most shots are taken in a mad rush when I happen to hear a jet coming and I've got a 5 min lull in work.

Thanks for the tip Gord, I'll see what I can do there. Only have another 3 weeks left, so time is running short but I'll see what other shots I can grab. And of course any good ones will be posted.

I've just grabbed a lot of shots of the RAF Photographers, and I tell ya what, there are some amazing shots i there. Will try and share some once I back in the land of decent internet speeds.
