Picked this up on Saturday, I traded Socom Special Forces in, after being utterly disappointed with that – only managed two levels on the hardest setting before deciding it was a pile of stuff; but I’ve already posted in that thread
Been reading mixed opinions of Flashpoint though, being a massive fan of the PC versions years and years back – OFP being my second ever PC game purchased (the first was Rainbow Six

), I eagerly awaiting the first console Flashpoint, and though it was enjoyable it also sucked a fair bit too.
Happy to report that this new one is pretty good – sure it is butt ugly on initially viewing it, but I think the game beneath is enjoyable enough that you can overlook this, besides which, you become accustomed to the graphics after an hour or so.
Played about four hours so far, still on day one, the last level I did was the dam – so far though, I’m pretty impressed, and wished that I bought this over Socom in the first place
Aside from the poor graphics, the sound is pretty good; though some of the distant explosions from bombs/air strikes do lack a lot of oomph, the weapons have a nice crack to them, as does incoming fire, so all in all, it’s used well to immerse you.
The player control is nice and fluid, sure it’s not as high speed as something like MoH or CoD, but I’ve always saw OFP as more of a simulator (of sorts), so clunky movement is expected, and you get used to this too.
AI is a little poor at times, though nowhere in the same league as Socom’s, that was really really **** poor! But the team mates in Flashpoint can sometimes take cover the wrong side of walls, though they are pretty sharp at engaging targets, so I forgive them

The enemy AI can also be a bit dense at times, but, I’ve had them use tactics a few times and have been surprised by what they have done – they’re also not your typical lambs to the line up and get slaughtered club – if an AI drops the others will often take cover.
Mini review over
