Opinions on Freelander?

I believe it will start some where between £20-24k Ford are trying to go upmarket with LR the new freelander is competition for the BMW X3 or whatever they call it.

As long as they don’t ruin the defender when the new ones out they wont lose a whole lot of customers.

We had a freelander as a courtesy car and it was crud the mud on the underside of my defender is better. The nissan X-trail is a v good car soft-roader we had one before the D3 and it’s a very good motor no problems with it at all.
 
A mate of mine at work has an '02 TD4. It's the 3 door specced up version (leather, 6CD etc) and he paid 22k for it new. He's forever carping on about it and wishes he hadn't got rid of his old Rover 216. It's been into the dealers more times than I can remember for all sorts of stuff - random breakdowns with electrical faults, the stereo keeps packing up, roof panels not fitting correctly. Whenever it gets cold the roof ices up on the inside and drips cold water all over the place.

The interior looks and feels cheap. I'd be appalled if I had spent 22k on it to be honest as I've seen better in 6k Korean superminis. Best bit of the car is the engine which was came from BMW.

He's selling it at the moment (emigrating) and it's still worth about 10k for reasons I can't fathom.
