We’re getting our house painted after getting a new door and windows (being installed tomorrow :) ). Because the render was already looking a bit tatty and I thought the new windows and doors will make it look even worse.

Anyway our house is quite a cream colour now, we’re going for a more white colour, but not complete white (Emperor Paint Heritage White).

The corbel tiles where the corners meet the roof and the creasing tile sills. Should we paint them red? I tried some patio cleaner on them and scrubbed them and yeah you get a bit more of the red come out of them. But they’re 70+ years old weathered and are mostly grey.

Our neighbour with a similar house has theirs painted and it looks smart. Thoughts?

TL;DR getting new doors and windows. House will be painted a whiter colour. Should we also have the sills painted in red Matt brick/tile paint.

This is the sill paint:

You could do, but would it look odd with the roof tiles being age coloured.

They are nice as is imo and if I had to paint I would match the colour to the guttering and lights.

Yeah Id never paint brickwork unless you want a recurring maintenance task.

Have you thought about getting a softwash on the render to clean it up a bit rather than painting? (I believe they use sodium hypochlorite but there's company's that specifically do this)

Thanks I think you’re all correct about the sills. It was my original plan but the more I think about it I think it’ll stick out like a sore thumb.

I’ll have a crack at cleaning and scrubbing them to get a bit more red out of some of them but otherwise leave them.

I have, but we’d like a slight change in colour too.
