Just saw this last night on prime, and pretty much agree, saw Dunkirk in the cinema and it didn't do much for me that oneCan’t understand the IMAX hype for this one, it was mainly men talking in rooms (as Kermode said IIRC). It probably could have been trimmed down in running time significantly.
I also didn’t like the sort of cut away, CGI imaginings of Oppenheimer or the repeated foot stamping / clapping bits.
Probably 7/10 for me, no real desire to see it again any time soon.
Indeed. You could watch The Godfather or Schindler’s List at home but if you’re playing on your phone or pausing it every 5mins, or talking over it you’d find it a completely different (worse) experience. The last few posts are clear proof that streaming will never replace the cinema lol..
What if you paid £24 to see it at the BFI IMAX, did none of those things and still found it to be quite average?Indeed. That’s your opinion, so whatever. The point that @n111ck was making is that it’s funny how movies almost invariably get worse reviews when you know the poster has watched it at home. You see the same on here when movies have just come out in the cinema, and some smartass posts their review saying “it was rubbish, I turned it off “ even when most others have thoroughly enjoyed it.What if you paid £24 to see it at the BFI IMAX, did none of those things and still found it to be quite average?

I would have rated it even lower if I’d been deafened by a modern cinema too.The last few posts are clear proof that streaming will never replace the cinema lol..
More often than not, you go to the cinema because you want to watch the movie, so obviously it'll get worse reviews when watched at home as a "what's on tv tonight" situation. Cinema is a different experience, but if the movie isn't of interest to you, no amount of IMAX "magic" will change it.That’s your opinion, so whatever. I can’t really agree with this. Oppenheimer is on PPV, I’ve been waiting for it to come out, I paid for it. It’s not just a case of being bored and seeing what’s on.More often than not, you go to the cinema because you want to watch the movie, so obviously it'll get worse reviews when watched at home as a "what's on tv tonight" situation.
Not saying it's the case for everyone as I'm sure there are people who wanted to watch it but didn't want to/couldn't go to the cinema, but there will also be a lot of people picking it up at home because it was marketed well and not because they have a genuine interest.I can’t really agree with this. Did anyone else feel massively underwhelmed when they set of the bomb, I thought it had failed at first cause it looked so small.
