Hello.Since i am a bit of a lazy newbe(yes NOOB:D) on overclocking i want to
be proposed some setup for my pc.
I ve got an opteron 150(2.4ghz) the venus core(90nm).I was told that this is the E4 Revision.
I am on a shuttle sn25p with ocz platinum cas2 2gb ram.

I would like you to suggest me a setup that i will not face any major increase in heat cause i want to run my fans at ultra low if it is possible.
Thank you for your time

Just increase the FSB not the voltage, heat output shouldnt increase much and 2.8 should be possible with a 150 on stock volts.

as above, I have a 170 in my SN26p running 1.35v and 250htt, in bios I am showing a temp of 40-42 degrees

I had a 140 in my sn25p at 280htt and iirc never saw over 50 degrees at load in bios

You may want to stick the RAM on a divider away so that doesn't limit your clock.

as i said i am a bit noob:D
Can you please specify me what values/settings shall i put on the bios?
If i change the fsb wouldnt this affect my ram?

250htt should be achievable with no voltage increase, change the HTT multi to 4x[default is auto] and as above poster set a ram divider of 5:4 [htt:mem speed], unless you have ddr500 ram, in which case leave ratio 1:1

I need to set the following settings
CPU Frequency(default is 200).shall i set it to 250?
HT Freq(def auto) set it to 4x?
ht width(16down , 16up)

I ve got the dram configuration(i have it at cas2 ddr 3200 settings)
Also what to you mean by 5:4 divider?
edit:i ve just read carefully about the divider.250htt so i should set the ram freq 200?That the stock ram freq right?

Set Cpu Frequency = 250
Set HT Freq = 2.5 or 3

Put your RAM on a divider if your system is not stable at these settings.

SN25P has a 1000 hyperbus [or whatever its called]

4x & 250 is spot on

default is 5x and 200

If i set the cpu freq to 250 and ht freq to 4x it wont boot.
It will show me a message in bios that the safe settings are on and that i should readjust cpu freq.

have you set mem speed to auto ?, it should automatically set a divider for you

you may need to enable reset config data option in bios also

I can assure you 4x and 250 htt is not your issue

Well, I have been running 4x250 in one of my systems for around 6 months so I doubt that will be a problem.

@ OP set the ram to 166mhz and then OC, with the FSB at 250 the ram will run at 208mhz

the bios wont let me boot with 250htt(known as cpu frequency in my bios).
Even if i lower the ram at 166 or at auto settings.
Btw what's ht width?it is set at 16up and 16 down.
I ve got it flashed to the latetest bios btw.

I tried some settings by myself though i didnt knew what i was doing:)
I tried 250htt x3 auto ddr settings -->bios massage again
225hht didnt get the bios message but the pc wont boot in windows, restarts.

Any help please?

edit:dont know if it is important right now but the current bios only goes up to 250cpu freq. From what i read on forums this may be a bios version issue since the majority of sn25p go up to 300htt

sounds like you may have a poor clocker and may need a cpu voltage hike :(

what temps do you see in bios for cpu @default speeds ?

and flashing to latest bios will indeed limit your htt to 250, bios "y" will let you do up to 300 iirc

at stock in bios the cpu temp is 40C and system temp is 47C

Speedfan temps are around CPU 49 idle and 50-51 under 100% cpu usage

any further help?
I will flash the bios to the y version.
Something i did understood is what the ht freq does(the 4x,5x etc).
I really appriciate your time and effort

You guys are forgetting that 12x250 = 3Ghz. Which I seriously doubt is possible on stock volts even with an Opty 150. Try lower the CPU multiplier to 11x, HT 4x, Ram Divider 5/6 - this will allow a slight oc on the ram which it should be capable of.

noob alert here.how do i lower the cpu multiplier?
The ram devider is a setting i change?or just a reference so that if the htt is set to 250 lets say i set my ram freq to 208?
Also does ht width affect anything?

Ignore HT Width, dont change it. The ram needs to be put on a divider as it'll clock with the HTT if you dont which the ram would need looser timings in order to achieve. Tight timings > ram speed.
The CPU multi might be labelled CPU Ratio, not really sure tbh.
