My opteron 165 mylti is set at 9 maximum. Can i set it to 10 or even 9.5.I know its a set or locked thing.I download a program called Crystalcpuid, and im wondering how to get my opti 165 past 2313 mhz. Ive tried everything, even had some great help off friedns and people on this forum. My 165 just doesnt wanna go above 2313 mhz. Any idea's? Ive changed the FSB,mem divider, core volts,HTT, the lot. It just wont run stable over 2.3 ghz. I have a 620w brand new powersupply(enermax),an Asus A8N32 SLI-Deluxe,and a nice new Arctic Pro 64 cooler. This opti 165 is a really bad monkey. Any idea's people.

if the multi is locked then you have to raise FSB. If you cant - then you cant.

im no expert on this but try the ram on a low divider and raise fsb until the ram is at about 200mhz on the divider. Add a bit more voltage to the cpu if needed.

Take your time over it dont rush it and keep going till you can boot and be stable.

thats probably a lot of what u have been told but thats all there is really.

Lots of things could be limiting you inc. RAM, the cpu itself, too low voltage/heat problems.

Have you checked the stepping of your chip to see if its a good clocker. I can get mine to 2.7.

Multi is locked upwards but adjustable downwards.

Mine is set as follows

HTT 3x
FSB 300
Memory on a 133 divider.
Lock pcie synch.
Rest left at stock

Boards epox 9npa ultra

Thanks guys, ive got my htt on 3, put the fsb to 257 and my mem divided is 166 instead of 200.Nothing really in my pc, it doesnt get hot, it runs cool :) Just cant get a stable cpu over 2313.I know the stepping is poor, CCBWE 0607 i think.Ive even had sgoaty on phone helping me out, he cant believe that i cant get over 2.3ghz. My memory is corsair xms pro, and my cooler is new.I know i am not too good at over clocking, but i got my opteron 146 to 2700mhz, dead easy. This opti 165 is a really bad monkey :(

You could always send it to me and ill give it a test :p

Hi there. I notice you have an ASUS A8N series board. In the bios menu there's an option to disable or enable floppy legacy. It has to be enabled to be able to overclock on A8N boards.

I had it disabled and could not clock very much. Enabling it allowed for stable 2.76ghz on 1.5v. This is with an average stepping (CCBWE 0551VMPW)

I cant find that option in my bios, but i have an A8N32 sli deluxe motherboard. Now im wondering why you get a better overclock just because of the floppy legacy :O
