Opteron Upgrade?

Hi all,

im looking to upgrade my system soon. New mobo/cpu and memory.
At the moment ive got a Opty146, 1GB Geil One Ram and MSI K8n Neo2 mobo.

i want more speed, whats the latest good overclocking cpu and memory?
heard afew things about this conroe? but dont know anything about overclocking it, since ive only had AMD since K6 lol

any help woulwd be great.

Is better that 1GB at 2-2-2-5 and 250mhz

And as for 3Ghz if u can get it at the min just put the ram on a divider and it will stay out the way

Oh and if you have gt enought money for conroe it is the best value for money and they overclock realy well.

Put a post in General Hardware as they realy know what there talking about

Noticed you're still AGP, get a new vga and mobo, like the NF4

What do you want more speed in/is too slow (slow in what way?)? Games? If so which games?

Have any idea of a budget?

That opteron should have plenty of headroom for overclocking tbh.

Seems to me your machine is at a point where its either a complete system upgrade or just the ram.

I suggest you just do the ram and wait till next year for a system upgrade.

usually it gets sluggish in photoshop after working with a lot of open files. Start up always beens slow as hell.

Looking to play games soon as I miss Fifa and Farcry, dont play too many.

look for 4400+ adv4400cdbox (CCBIE stepping). get them to 3Ghz on air.
