Options for keeping a UK number (price / convenience)

That's because they all disconnect you eventually, and rightfully so.

As above, guys out here been doing it for years, Myself six months.

I know three and EE disconnect if you aren't in the UK every 30 days.

Though Vodafone do state it in their T&Cs:

We’ll send you a text requesting you moderate your usage in our Roam-free destinations if you use them for a total of 2 months or more during any 4-month period. If your usage in any of our Roam-free destinations continues to exceed this allowance after a 2-week period from which you first received this text, we may charge you for further use or bar your roaming services. We’ll always let you know before we do this.

I've been using over 2GB everymonth for 7 months now with no message. So I'll take the risk for the money saving.

Yeah I used it until I got disconnected, so why not use it as long as you're still connected.

They're getting wise to it more and more though.

There is more focus on it now since the new roaming laws and people are getting disconnected. I know this for a fact but you might get lucky if you don't use much.
