So on a weekly/bi weekly basis, I am having to pick up dog/cat/fox poo from the front garden grass. Over the last 2 weeks, i have now counted 4 spots where something has pooed on the grass. I've no idea which animal this is.
Its annoying me so much that i am going to install a camera to try detect the culprit! Either doorbell camera or a turret ip cam.

Any recommendations for location of said camera and what would allow me to detect these on camera?

Do door cams pick up small animals? How are they at night vision?
Alternatively, a ip cam put somewhere on front of my property which would capture majority of front garden/driveway?

An individual camera would enable you to get better coverage in my opinion. With a doorbell camera, you may not be able to target the required area so well.

Reolink cameras are well thought of here. This page has a list of security camera manufacturer websites for your research.

Waiting for the grass to dry up before i do first cut of the year....currently a big swamp and just sink into the grass/mud as i walk over it. Might try one of those electronic animal deterrents.

A doorbell cam will pick up small animals easily or you could just install a solar power battery CCTV camera. I've use Reolink cameras to monitor the field at the back of our previous property and it could even pick up field mice at night.
I've now got one of their doorbell camera's and that again picks up wildlife.
But please do not use any other deterrent as this will impact upon the wildlife.

Don't waste your money, they don't work. One of my neighbours bought one as there are 14 cats that live around here plus "visitors" and the cats either ignored it or "chinned" it. I built a sand pit in my back garden for my 3 cats to do their toilet in and as far as I know it has worked a treat eveddn though my cats tended to go toilet in out garden anyway. I also pick up from my neighbours garden if I see cat poo in there whether it was from my cats or not. It's the responsible thing to do.

I used Tapo IP cameras - not for cat detection, but to keep an eye on the house while I was away for months.

I stuck mine upside down on my porch soffit.

orchids. lovely to look at and kryptonite to cats.

edit: lillies....not orchids....dumbass!
Also poisonous to cats, no? OP could well end up with cat poo, cat vomit and possibly cat carcasses on his front lawn which would be worse...

We had a similar problem with cats on our estate. Tried citrus sprays and electric deterrants which did nothing, even left our indoor cat poop out for a few days to try and 'claim' our lawn. In the end it was as simple as making sure our grass was shorter than the neighbours in our street. As long as we keep it short, then no ****.

Get a motion activated water spray, I think they're called Scarecrow. Hook it up to your outdoor tap and try to get the results on camera.

If the cats are like mine that won't work. My cats love water to the point where washing the car becomes a pain in the butt as they chase the water jet trying to catch it with their teeth.

Sounds like a lot of agro just to find out whats doing it..

Buy some of those battery operation motion detection devices to stop it happening.
If your ears are young enough to pick up the frequency, they sound horrendous but they do do a cracking job (i have multiple) of stopping cat and other small animals doing it in the first place.

Get a motion activated trial cam....

Waste of money and time though, you won't stop nature from pooping where ever it wants to poop
