what would the best bundle to go for from the 'bundles' section.

CLICKY

im not a hardcore gamer although i want a good graphics card for when i do play games.

looking to spend around 350-400 inc. graphics card.

will i still be able to use my other PCI equipment

Any bundle with a 3700+ or above are all pretty good. Just depends whether you want dual core or not or 1GB or 2GB of RAM. To be honest just get the best you can afford :)

As for graphics I would say an x1800 is probably the best you can afford with your budget. There might be a better nVidia alternative but I am not sure.

i have always been nVidia, would like to stay with them as i have had no problems at all. each to their own i guess.

is there much diff between standard 64 and dual 64 - performance wise

which would be better faster cpu or more ram? most games still only require 512mb min 1 gb rec. - sayin that i havnt bought a new game in a while

Hiya

There is performances differences in dual cores and single cores, of course, if you have a dual core it is better at multi-tasking, for example if your burning a CD it may not slow down other applications as much. Hopefully someone else will be able to give you more of a detailed answer. But if you want be more future safe then go for dual core, I believe people are saying Socket 939 is pretty dead now (Still powerful though, I think the 4000+ was able to read FX-57 speeds?) :D

Socket 939 has now stopped production, so you can say it is dead. However they are still very powerful processors and are also dirt cheap these days!

Dual core CPUs wont make games run any better [unless it is one of the few games that can use dual core CPUs] but it does mean you can be burning a CD, downloading or ripping a DVD while playing a game!

For most people 1GB of RAM is plenty for their needs so considering your budget I would probably go for a dual core cpu with 1GB RAM. There is nothing stopping you buying more RAM in the future!

i now understand the dual core thing now. basically i can do 2 things at once really. but can i not 'use' the 2 cores to do the one task? or is it case of the software being able to use the two?
