Hi guy's i'm old school so I've been starting my adventure with computers from ZX Spectrum, Atari and Commodore i know technology has been pushed much forward nowadays so i'm gonna need some help from fresh minds. I've bought the Optiplex 7020 with i3 4th gen, budget office stuff but im th thinking to give him so more power to handle middle games with low budget as i payed for it £170 on Amazon with 21,5" monitor and mouse, keyboard. can any of you good people give me some advice what i can do with this crap and don't spend too much ...any advice will be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forums!

The main issue with upgrading an old optiplex and similar systems tends to be that they don't use standard power connectors so you're stuck with the PSU you have for the most part. Though there are some exceptions. Your best bet is a ram upgrade, installing an SSD and putting in an old graphics card if you have the option. Should be able to play some esports titles and some older games fairly well but will struggle with anything more demanding I think.
