The 6th form that im going to doesnt do ict A levels it does an oracle computer course instead. It says that it covers databases, sql and java programming. I was wondering how these courses compare to A levels, are they any better?

depends what you wanna do after!

A levels will see you getting into UNI, the other will give you better job prospects

Ive looked at the uni courses for computer science and ICT at lancaster and none of the degrees said they needed an A level in computers, just 3 A levels which is what I will have from maths and physics and biology, so I should be ok right?

There are people on my Computer Science course who, when we started, didnt have a clue. One woman didn't even OWN a computer lol. So i doubt any sort of computing qualification is required to get on a CS course.

You will probably find that you have Database modules at Uni. Oracle what my course is using.

Oracle DBAs get paid well. So having a good knowledge from a young age may help you achive the standard required to be a DBA.
