Hi Folks,

I'm looking to expand my CV, I'm currently a developer with experience in C, Java, C#, Python etc.

Anyway I think I'd like some oracle development skills, some sort of extra official certification. Looking at the website however i'm confused! lol!

Just looking for some advice really.

Cheers,
Paul

I'm assuming from your background you want to get experience with Oracle SQL & PL/SQL rather than Oracle DBA skills?

I would download Oracle XE first
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/xe/index.html

Get a PL/SQL book (I recommend Steven Feuerstein's)and just have a play about with this, use it to create a db back end to a Java/C# application.
Only once you have got this far would I start thinking about certifications.

I've done the Advanced PL/SQL and Performance & Tuning courses. It was Ok but I wouldn’t have paid for them myself.

Sounds perfect thankyou

Out of interest (I probably won't take this route) but what sort of tasks does a DBA undertake? :o
