Upgraded my connection a month ago to from 1.5mb/s to 4mb/s and within seven days i was flying on my faster four meg connection.

All was fine for three weeks however i discovered yesterday that my connection speed has dropped back to 1.5mb/s. My router says it is connected at 4256mb/s however speed tests show its only 1.5mb/s.

"Sam knows" states i should be able to get 4meg, is something wrong at my end or could it be orange?

It could be one or both. Try the BT Speedtest (instructions should be in FAQ), and it should give you a value for the IP Profile.

Thanks, I did the test my ip profile is 1000kbps. This is obviously why im going slow. I dont understand why this has suddenly dropped as i was at 4000kbps fine for three weeks. Anyone know how i get the ip profile back up again? Even up to 2000kbps would be better. Seems one hell of a drop from 4000kbps back down to 1000kbps.

Presumably your connection dropped and synched up at a speed low enough to warrant the reduced profile.
It should increase 3 days after it dropped.

yeah i had the same problem with orange, upgraded to 6 meg, n realised this week they had dropped me back to 2, yet my coonnection was fine, so ive just requested to be upgraded to 4 online, if they carry on at this rate im gonna request a mac code and move isps

As already said it wouldn't matter if you moved ISPs, its just the way the ADSL Max works, the only way you could stop it would be to move to an ISP like Be or Ukonline that has LLU in your area as they don't use the IP profiles.
