Howdy,
I have been an Orange member since 2006 and have been relatively happy with their service up until now.
I have recently got a new job as an IT admin for the NHS in the North West and the building in which I work receives poor if any reception from Orange. Because of this I thought it would be a good idea to cancel my contract and see if the NHS could offer me a better solution on an internal phone network.
When I called Orange I found out that I would have to pay the sum of £2** as a cancellation fee because I have till the 18th of Jan 2009 till my contract runs out. This annoyed me a bit I thought "fair enough, its in the contract"......However, I did some digging around and found this on the Orange website in their Terms and Conditions:
4.4 terminating your contract because Orange is no longer able to provide access to the Network
If, for reasons beyond our control, we are no longer able to provide Network Services, we will at our discretion either:
4.4.1 make arrangements for you to be supplied with equivalent Services by another network at no extra cost to you, or
4.4.2 accept written notice from you that you wish to terminate your Contract. In such cases we will refund any pre-paid Charges that have not been used up.
With this in mind, I called Orange again and argued my case that they could not provide me with a service during my 8 hours a day that I am at work. The representative I spoke to openly denied that the clause stated above does not exist and she said that (and this is what gets me) if Orange were not able to provide me with service it would have to be wherever I am.......therefore the whole world, which she agreed on. At this point i did not think of asking to speak to her manager as I wanted some advice as to how to proceed first. Can any one offer any advice on what to do next?
Regards,
Schnippzle.
