Orange Internet (formerly Wanadoo), at long last.

Thats great based on the general public and the people who are quite happy to just send emails and browse ebay once a week. Overall it'll probably be great for them - but for people like this they'll be off to talk talk

On a high performance computing forum it probably doesnt cut the mustard and turns your ratio around with 90% using more than 2gb.

But, as I regularly point out in various forums on here, the general public are the bread and butter of every company.

As you point out, 2gb will probably not suit a large percentage of the posters here, however it will happily suit the vast majority of those with internet access full stop.

OcUK is not a representative sample for anything, and that's the big point. This sort of offer isn't necessarily aimed at high broadband users, it's aimed at giving everyone access to cheap broadband. Is that so bad?

The only problem with this deal as far as I'm concerned is that it is aimed at people like my parents who just use the internet for the odd email and some browsing. However my parents have never spent more than 20 quid on a mobile bill. People with high mobile phone bills tend to be the kind of people that would use more than 2gb a month on internet I would have thought.

If you do qualify as someone who would benefit from this though, I'd say go for it! I think we'll see similar offers from the other more competitive mobile providers as they move into the broadband market though, so I wouldn't switch just for this offer.
