Are Orange possibly THE WORST EVER customer services?

I called up to have the iPhone internet activated, got an update text, turned phone off & back on and thought "ooooh great it works" then texted someone. Reply was "Who is this?" So i rang them and Orange have not only activated the internet service but issued me with a new sodding number (and one which is possibly the hardest in the world to remember)

So I've now made about 8 or 9 calls to them (3 or 4 hung up mid call as they obviously didn't know what they were doing), 1 guy even put his mic on the loudspeaker and played feedback to me instead of dealing with the call (yes, I myself worked in a call centre years ago and know these tricks)

Bear in mind i'm being incredibly nice to these indians, not just ringing up and yelling abuse (which is my next plan although i've a feeling they'll hang up more)

I've been told on the last 2 calls that they'll sort it out and was sent another update text that did nothing, and the last call the guy said he'd call me back the next day after being on the phone to him for 45 minutes, which he didn't.

I've even sent them an e-mail through their website and heard nothing back.

Rant over but what the hell do I do now? I WANT MY NUMBER BACK!!!!

Top tip phone after 3 your more likely to get a someone from there North east Call center , if you find them easier to understand JOKING Geordie's/teesiders :p

Must admit I have always ended up with the Geordie call centre and they were quite good to deal with. I then took out a business tariff with them and the customer service from the business section is the best I have have seen for a good while.

Called up as my data connection wasn't working for 2 days due to my closest cell being dead and the next one was at half power. I asked if there was anyway of getting a bit of a refund for this month as I couldn't get emails etc and with a blink of an eye the guy refunded my whole month line rental for the 2 phones on the contract - 70+ quid back with no effort.

Orange have gone up in my estimations :)

Chances are it's already been given to somebody else and there's nothing they can do to get it back.

Have you tried to call the number and see if anyone answers?

Try sending an email to various departments of the executive office.
You can also take your last few bill to an Orange store and tell them that your number has just changed without your consent.

It happened to a friend of mine, the T-mobile store was very helpfull

T-Mobile recently did the same thing to me. Only I'd had business cards and stationery printed with the number on.

My wife thought it amusing that she and many of my friends had two days worth of conversations with an annoyed Irish bloke in London somewhere who'd been given my number!... By way of compensation, T-Mobile cancelled my newish 24 month contract after 2 months and let me keep the Desire.

Grief initially, but I at least scored and got a new and memorable number into the bargain.

Not got it sorted yet? I'll see if I can get someone to sort you out, used to work there till I got fired.

Edit: Mate says it might be a good idea to ring retentions and threaten to cancel, those guys are quite motivated.
