Right, this could go on a bit so I'll try to keep it short.
Been with Orange 6, going on 7 years now and they've always been good to me, but I lost a lot of respect for them today.
When I embarked on my most recent contract 7 months ago it was agreed that I'd have 200 mins and 500 texts for £30 a month, over a 12 month contract. This worked out pretty well for me, and I've yet to go over these stated limits, although I get close every month so I never spend more than £30.
Bill drops on the mat this morning, and upon opening they're asking me for £80. So I look through the itemised charges and they've charged me for each and every text message I've sent in the last month (450ish). Looking through the breakdown section of the bill, it mentions nothing of the 500 texts I'm supposed to have which it has on the previous 6 bills.
So I phone Orange and explain this to them and the girl goes off to speak to someone else and comes back saying that the 500 text bit of the tariff was a 6 month offer. This is total nonsense and was not explained to me when I accepted the terms and conditions. So as a gesture of goodwill they say they'll give me £30 back on my next bill. I explain that they've mislead me and they should be giving me the full amount, and the 500 texts back, which they're refusing to do.
Apparently I should have known the 500 texts were for a limited period, and even though I explained that I would only know this if they had bothered to tell me, they're having none of it.
Where do I stand here? My contract now includes no free messages, and I have an £80 bill to pay. From the tone the guy I ended up speaking to took, I'm being unreasonable by knocking back their goodwill offer of £30.
Why would any sane person knowingly agree to spend £30 a month on a contract which after 6 months was good for just 200 mins and nothing else?
