I'm a T mobile customer and have activated this too.
Regarding the 'there is a problem' message I got this too. It worked after I set mobile network to auto and turned on data roaming on my HTC Desire.
For that reason, I suspect you may need to activate in an area that has both orange and t-mobile signals.
