Order Cancelled On Phone Because Of Poor Credit Rating

if you got into the equifax website you can get your credit info online for a small fee. Equifax are one of the main credit score agencies, I had a problem a while back with a credit card I thought I had cancelled, it had a balance of under five pounds on there and I'd since moved address. This had gone into default and unbelievably affected a mortgage application.

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly, but would a yearly contract with a mobile phone company paid every month for a few years be seen as a good credit rating? Or would that not go to my credit rating at all?

Yes,it does go on your credit record.

I had something similar to this when i went for a mortgage - they said your coming up as having a bad credit rating (or words to that effect), to which I replied I have a load of savings and never had a CC in my life... and he said, ahhh thats your problem. A wtf moment.

it was from o2 online
There you have it, O2 are gits...

They didn't want my custom, even when Orange and T-Mobile were tripping over themselves to give me a contract ;)

I've had trouble getting phones, I had to put a £100 deposit down on my current one, should be due back this month though \o/. I think our house has dodgy credit, we're constantly getting letters from the ILR and HMC about some company the chinese students who used to live here ran from the house.

the thing that is annoying me most is the fact my GF got one :|

her parents got into quite a lot of debt and my family havent lol

gonna see if i can get something from a different shop then

I had the same problem for ages, little tip, get a VISA card with an overdraft! Bingo! Gets you started, i got a phone on contract as soon as i got my VISA card :D

Well im definately on the electoral role just checked now

tried signing up to that website that lets you check your credit rating for like £10 but it wont let me sign up :|

I got turned down for a phone a couple of years ago.

I'm in my 40's, own my house (mortgage paid off), earn £35k per year, have £25k in savings, two credit cards (always paid off each month), and haven't been overdrawn for 25 years. I've had dozens of loans and HP purchases over the years, never missed a payment.

My "crime"? A postcode search failed to show my house at that postcode, despite the house being 150 years old. Even a utility bill and bank statement, clearly showing my full address, failed to convince them.

What really annoyed me was that a student, living in a bedsit, was getting signed up with no problem at the next counter.
