Ordered Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 - can you complete ME w/out touching annoying side missions?

Mako is actually very good on the main missions - I enjoyed it. It's only a problem if you try to explore the sandboxes of the uncharted worlds (especially ones like Nodacrux).
 
Oh and another tip whilst you're on Noveria. Save, save and save again. This part of the game is tremendously buggy. You can get stuck in the lifts.
 
Yes I'd advise anyone to edit there save for Mass Effect 2, even on a first playthrough. Scanning for minerals is the single most pointless game mechanic EVER devised.
 
Hmmm...slowly starting to enjoy this...thanks for all the tips :) Ive taken note of them! Ive never played this kind of game before TBH where I have to take care for and look after a squad.

I cant figure out how to heal someone? One of the dudes whose with me has health at like 10% and I cant figure out how to give him the medi gel or whatever lol.
 
When you use medi-gel, you and the other people on your team are all healed.

Really, it is no tragedy if you just let your team members die, they will magically spring back to life once the battle you are in ends.

Yeah I hated scanning but found it compulsively addictive. This considerably reduced my enjoyment of the game! It meant there was more time between doing interesting missions etc overall I preferred me1.
