Got a cool £150 trade in for my PS2 and some games so I pre ordered a Wii last week, I am getting the £239.99 package with any 2 games, any thing else I should by, do I need to old style gamepad to play the virtual console games?

I plan on getting Wii Play to get the second romote and Zelda, and I will need to buy a second pair of numchucks.

What do I need to play the GC games, do I need to buy an old GC pad?

Cant wait even the wife wants to play it.

Need a GC pad for GC games I think, and you might be able to use that for all the VC stuff as well. Most of the really old VC games let you play with the Wiimote anyway.

Only other things are stuff like the ethernet adaptor if you don't have a wireless network, and maybe new AV leads depending on the sort of TV you have.

Might be best getting a component lead then. Using the composite lead you get with the Wii is passable on an LCD, but certainly not great.

You need a Gamecube pad to play the Gamecube games, but you will probably need a memory card too if you want to save your progress. Slightly annoyingly, again this needs to be a Gamecube one.

Wrong....it saves it directly to the console itself....

I thought you could only save Gamecube games to the Gamecube memory card?

oh sorry. that I don't know.

Haven't tried any gamecube games yet, been to hooked to Zelda.

I was thinking about VC

I'm well naffed off now. I sold my Wii to a mate for store price, as you do. He decided he doesn't like it, put it on eBay and got more than he paid me for it. Crafty beggar.

I got a new contract phone that comes with a free Nintendo Wii :)

I may have to wait a couple of weeks for them to get the Wii in stock but I can't wait. Not a bad deal. A free Samsung D900 (3.2 mp camera on it) and a free Nintendo Wii. Absolute bargain if you ask me (especially when the deal on the phone will work out cheaper than my BT line and I can have free orange broadband too!).

I only got it to get hold of the Wii though. Really excited!

Interesting deal, can you link it?

How long are you roped into the contract for though:?
Best I can find is 12 months, £40 per month and £40 for the phone.
End result for me would be paying £10 a month more line rental than normal but gettting a Wii.
I can only find these deals on £40/month orange tarriffs with either 18 month contracts or 12 months plus you pay £40 for the handset.

18 month contract at 35 squid :)

500 free minutes a month. 500 texts a month and 1 free number every 6 months to anyone on an orange contract (most of my mates!).

There's lots of sites that do the phone for free as well, so you don't even pay for the handset (do a google search for "contract free wii").

Plus... the free Wii :D

Fantastic!
