Hi there, please can you offer advice or your opinion on what might be going on here...

I was planning on ordering my BMW X1 today online via my work portal for 3 year Lease but when I checked the BMW website for the X1 in the UK it shows no diesel engines which is what I was going to choose, it just shows petrol?

Anyone got any idea why this is? Could it be that the diesel engines have been removed from BMW for some reason? Or just a glitch with the website?

Really confused and concerned about this. I was going for the 18D because of lower emissions and keeping cost down you see.

Also, what's weird is, my work portal will still allow me to choose the diesel engine and order it, so do you think I have anything to worry about?

I'm going to contact BMW when they open tomorrow but I thought I'd ask you guys tonight as its 10:40pm now here in the UK and BMW is closed.

Thanks in advance.

Manufacturers are panicking and taking down diesel options due to the whole VW-gate fallout.

By the next round of model updates you probably won't be able to buy a diesel at all. It will be a petrol, or petrol hybrid. Might cost slightly more to get to work, but we'll have slightly less chance of getting lung cancer :P

BMW website is crud, always something not working or changing.

I think if it doesn't' come up on a Google search in other news articles then it is most likely a website glitch.

Diesel options are slowly vanishing. It's days are numbered now. Mainly the bigger engines atm.

Website is broken, as usual. Jump on their live chat and ask them.

Yeah just spoken to their live chat now and he's confirmed it's a problem with the website, and he said not to worry about it, they're working on fixing it.

He said this:

Scott there is a glitch with the website at the moment and are aware of this, BMW are trying to fix this problem as we speak. Sorry for the inconvenience Scott, were not too sure how long the problem will take to solve. In the meantime if you would like to pop down to your local BMW Centre who are able to help you build your BMW X1.

And then I said, so it's ok to place my order on LEX website? And he said yes you can place your order and everything will be fine.

So looks to be all sorted then, going to place my order tonight for "BMW X1 sdrive 18D Xline", can't wait for it to come but takes around 16-18 weeks! So till hoping for end of march. :)

Just what is this based on?

I don’t see any signs of large Diesel engine options disappearing whatsoever when I browse the manufacturers sites...

Diesel is with us for a good while yet.

I heard newer diesel engines aren't as bad as older versions. I think people believe diesel engines are made by the devil or something lol. The reason I am getting diesel X1 over petrol is because my diesel version 109 co2 emissions where as petrol is 121 co2 which puts it in a higher tax band and especially when your leasing like I am it's a lot cheaper the lower the emissions with regards to the cost over the year and I'm taking a 3 year lease.

This will hopefully be my last diesel or petrol car though, I would have selected electric or maybe even hyrbid this time but no options available with BMW right now. But in 3 years when my lease is up there's going to be so many electric cars in the UK we will be spoilt for choice.

I reckon I will go Tesla/Range rover/Mercedes next time with an electric/hyrbid SUV. There's a lot of nice electric/hyrbid cars coming out in 2019-2020 and beyond.

Since when have emissions had any effect on lease prices?

Edit, nvm if it's through work portal I'm guessing it's not a personal lease and so you're talking BIK rather than VED
