I'm stuck here :o

Trying to decide between the BenQ XL2420T for £270 and the new Iiyama 27" 120hz monitor for £330 with £20 cash back from Iiyama, I need to order one tonight as my old monitor is sold

The Benq is a fair bit cheaper but I like the idea of 27" however I dont really watch films anymore on my PC, its just for games and I do sit quite close however I dont like the red on the Benq and prefer the looks of the Iiyama although thats not that important

I currently have a 22" screen 1680x1050 but I'm finding it to small and want 1080 resolution

Which should I get? Is the Benq after service as good Iiyamas? Theres loads of positive reviews for the Benq but no reviews for the Iiyama

Never had an Iiyama product so can not really comment, but personally I have had BenQ monitors for years and I can't fault them! They are quality and sound products. :)

If it was my money, it'd go on the XL2420T. ;)

The problem with the Iiyama for me is that it's so new there isn't much feedback on it yet. Also I'm not a fan of the looks + stand (subjectable).

Whereas it's the reverse situation for the XL2420T, so many reviews and feedback with the majority being very favourable. The only drawback from the obvious is the factory colour calibration for desktop browsing, but after some tweaking apparently it looks very nice.

I'd definitely go for the XL2420T if it was me.

Still not made my mind up, the Benq seems over complicated and gimmicky messing around with the settings for each game and that weird little mouse thing just seems a bit daft to me but the price is attractive, argh

Yeah but then you have that silly little mouse type thing knocking around on the desk thats not doing anything and I read they are a bit of a nightmare to configure, would rather something be setup for gaming out of the box

Throwing the 700D into the mix now, just because of the offer, thought these didnt have DVI? Anyone know what the 700D is like out of the box in terms of settings? Glossy screen and the small size puts me off but its a hell of a lot better looking than the Benq

If AMD card then Samsung, if Nvidia the BenQ.

No you do not have to mess about for settings for each game too that's a load of tripe.

Both monitors are amazing for gaming and i wouldn't change mine for any other.

700D does have dvi (and hdmi),also out of the box the picture quality is almost perfect, the only settings i changed were black levels (low) & response time (fastest). the glossy at first was annoying because i have not used glossy screen before but now i prefer it over matte. my games & videos never looked so good, you need to see this screen for yourself to appreciate it's brilliant picture quality & i'm sure once you do you will fall in love with it.

If you want a mirror you should try to find some Apple LED Cinema Displays on display in a shop. Samsung's Ultra Clear Panel is actually one of the least reflective glossy surfaces there is - not that it's easy to tell in a store and it's still very reflective in less than optimal conditions. Store lighting is never very forgiving for glossy monitors but if your lighting setup at home is anything like that and you can't be flexible with it then matte is the only sensible option.

Ok, the room is quite dark but I have mirrors just a couple of feet behind the screen and a window

I've experienced Asus glossy screens before and couldnt stand it so I'm a bit wary

Still not bought anything, PC looks weird without a monitor not to mention I'm missing it!

Buying a monitor is so difficult! What to get, will it have dead pixels, will it be too glossy, big enough, out of date in 5 minutes etc etc etc

From what I can tell, the Samsung 700/900 series monitors are among the best, and with the VAT back offer, it is hard to recommend anything else.

The Iiyama is as yet untested, so I would wait for more solid info about where it stands among the current crop of 120hz displays.

The Samsung has 2 drawbacks. High input lag and glossy.

The Iiyama is simply a 120hz version of the 60hz b2776hds, for which there are a number of favourable reviews.
